WTS Solo Bike Breakaway Analysis

Inspired by Flora Duffy's magnificent solo bike breakaway in the 2016 ITU World Triathlon Stockholm race I decided to look for other instances of solo bike breakaways in WTS history.

Streaming API

The Streaming API is now fully functional and available for use during supported live events. Supported events include all World Triathlon Series and World Cup events as well as Multisport World Championship events.

Funnels Endpoint

The Statistics API now contains the ability to perform funnel analysis. Much like the example in the Data Explorer Funnels this allows a broader range of analysis to be completed with queries that would previously have taken some level of scripting to solve which can now be answered directly.

Data Explorer Funnels

The Interactive Data Explorer now contains the ability to perform funnel analysis. This allows a broader range of analysis to be completed with queries that would previously have taken some level of scripting to solve which can now be answered directly.

Rankings API Released

A complete Rankings API has now been released and is available via the Rankings endpoint.

Hamburg Data Updates

Data from the 2015 ITU World Triathlon Hamburg event has now been added to the Statistics API database.

Matchup Endpoint

We have added a new Matchup endpoint to the Statistics API. The purpose of this endpoint is to determine the relative performances of a group of athletes, comparing events where they have raced each other. For a simple example, we can see the rivalry of Alistair and Jonathan Brownlee by making the following query:

Temperature and Distance Data Update

More Data Added

Since this post we have added all data for the wetsuit property. We have added as much temperature and distance data as we have available, which is mostly complete with the notable exception of 2009. If you are relying on a piece of data to complete your analysis you should check it first exists using the exists filter.
